Inhaltsangabe: Joh. B. dankt für erhaltenen Brief Battiers. Er hofft, dass das, was Battier bei ihm in Mathematik gelernt hat, ihm von Nutzen war. Er ermutigt ihn, sich in Jus und Mathematik gleichzeitig weiterzubilden. Battier habe zu beidem Talent. Er spreche nicht als Lehrer sondern als Freund zu ihm. Joh. B. empfiehlt zum Studium "les cours de mathematique de Mr. Wolf, l'analyse de Mr. de l'Hopital, et mes manuscripts dont vous avez pris copie". De Crousaz habe versprochen, Battier mit Rat und Tat zur Seite zu stehen. Joh.
