Inhaltsangabe: Paul Henry Maty informiert Herzog Ernst II. von Sachsen-Gotha und Altenburg über die kurzen prägnanten Texte von Philip Dormer Stanhope Chesterfield über britische Politiker, etwa über Mr. Henry Fox, Lord Townsend und Mr. Pitt, die Vincesimus Knox's 1770 in seinen "Elegant extracts: or, useful and entertaining passages in prose, selected for the improvement of young persons" veröffentlichte. In einem Nachtrag zu den Veröffentlichungen des letzten Winters berichtet er über den "Fund" der Gedichte von "Thomas Rowley" (Tomas Chatterton). Zugleich hält Maty den Herzog mit Nachrichten vom Amerikanischen Unabhängigkeitskrieg sowie die Saratoga-Schlachten der British Army auf dem Laufenden.
