Biographische Hinweise:

Physiker, arbeitete u.a. zu Atomphysik. Professor, Lecturer am Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge und danach an der Queen's University in Belfast. 1912 wurde er Mathematikprofessor am King's College London. 1921 bis zum Ruhestand 1930 war er Fellow und Director of Studies am Balliol College in Oxford.
